Description

HELP is a respite service provided by Surrey County Council and is operated

from within the Complex Needs Team (East), which is a team of social workers

who are responsible for all the Children with Complex Needs in the East of the

county. The geographical area covered by the scheme is wide and includes the

Borough Council areas of Reigate and Banstead, Epsom and Ewell, Mole Valley

and Tandridge. HELP provides support to families who have a child, living at

home, with disabilities or complex needs, which meets Surrey's eligibility

criteria. The level of support the child and their family will receive is decided at

panel meetings.

This scheme has been in operation for eight years and is a responsive service

offering support at times of crisis, short-term support for specific needs and

on-going respite following panel agreement and assessment of need by a social

worker. The scheme has moved from the Omnibus office complex to The

Redhill Centre, which was originally a Family Centre and is situated close to the

centre of Redhill town and to all public services. The office is open Monday to

Friday from 9am to 5pm. HELP coordinators are available for emergencies

outside office hours and The Complex Needs Team (East) also supply an

Emergency Duty Team.
