The Heathers is an NHS managed care home for up to 6 adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and sensory impairment, many having complex needs.

The Heathers is a large detached property which is situated in a pleasant residential area of Lower Kingswood. The accommodation is spread over 2 floors with a passenger lift servicing the upper floor. Communal accommodation consists of a comfortable lounge, large dining room and a therapy room equipped with sensory equipment to stimulate or relax the service users. Personal accommodation is spread over both floors and is in single rooms. Specialist equipment is available throughout the Home, including ceiling tracking hoists and specialist bathroom facilities.

Despite the complex needs of the service users resident within The Heathers, their personal choice and dignity is continually promoted by key workers who support individual service users. Friends and family are encouraged to remain an active part of service users lives, and to take part in their care.

Life at The Heathers is varied and service users are able to undertake activities and a lifestyle of their choosing. Weekly music sessions are provided by 'us in a bus', and service users are able to enjoy the theraputic touch of an aromotherapist. Day trips including shopping, theatre trips and visits to Kew gardens have been enjoyed over the last few months.

Service users healthcare needs are also supported with visits from physiotherapists, optician, dietician, dentist and RAD specialists.
