Description

The Grange provides a range of high quality services to adults with disabilities, offering skills training in work and social skills, productive work opportunities; supported housing and 24 hour care. The aim is to achieve optimum independence, dignity and fulfilment, while respecting the privacy, individuality and rights of each person.

The Range of our Services

Supported Housing. We offer semi-independent accommodation on site, with staff support, for those who can manage tenant status. Training flats provide shared accommodation for trainees. We encourage moves to independent living in the community as the ultimate objective for some.

Small Group Living. The recently refurbished Gloucester Lodge has accommodation for four groups of five clients. Three of these dwellings contain five bedrooms with en suite shower rooms, a wheelchair accessible living room and kitchen. The fourth dwelling has five individual flatlets for people who are developing their independence. These are all staffed to provide 24 hr care.

Life Skills Training. Trainees have practical training in money management, cookery, healthy living, literacy, and social skills to encourage independence and fulfil the potential of individuals.
Horticulture Training. The extensive gardens provide excellent opportunities for horticulture training for both trainees and volunteers to participate in a dynamic community project. A variety of gardening courses are run to support the training.

Creative Expression. The aims are to encourage every individual to develop new skills and achieve their potential in needlework, embroidery or multi media crafts through full involvement from design to finished product.

Work Experience. The enthusiasm and commitment of those clients attending supervised work experience placements is a clear indication of their value. In recent years, several people have achieved paid jobs in the locality as a result of their voluntary work.

Courses & Conferences. We offer training and lettings facilities for local community use in the Victorian Ballroom and Garden Room where Art classes and other courses take place.
