Description

The 'original' Carers service which allows carers to have a break for a few hours each week whilst the person they care for is looked after by the same professional, fully trained carer support worker each week.

Crossroads is a well established charity (over 35 years) who recognise the importance of Carers having a break in order for them to be able to continue in their vital 'caring' role.  The service is flexible, allowing them opportunity to go out or stay in whilst their loved one is supervised, giving them freedom to do whatever they would like in that time.

All carer support workers are fully trained to assist with personal care, medication and manual handling issues.  They can also be trained in specialist tasks if required.  They are familiar with most disabilities and conditions and work with adults and children.

The service remains free to Carers across Surrey although there is often a limited amount of 'free' time available and some branches have a waiting list for the 'free' service.  However, Carers can buy a service using carer break vouchers or direct payments while they are on the waiting list.
