Dementia Care: Our approach

Our approach is to provide individually tailored, person-centred assessments and care plans which are discussed with each resident and next of kin to suit their specific needs. Regular care plan reviews are undertaken to ensure that our care builds on residents’ strengths and choices in order to improve their quality of life. Nobody gives up their independence to spend time in a home out of choice and we ensure that our clients aren’t required to give up anything else that defines them.

Dovers home

Dovers is a two storey accessible home with an excellent reputation and high standards of care. Located just outside of Reigate in East Surrey (Map)it is conveniently close to shops and other community facilities. A comfortable, spacious building surrounded by lawns and trees, it has a sensory garden and even a mini golf course. The home is decorated and laid out in accordance with current good practice in care for people living with dementia. Since 2002, it has been devoted exclusively to the needs of older people living with dementia and is fully registered for dementia care and nursing.

The 39 single rooms are fully decorated and some are en-suite. Every room also has its own locked cabinet or drawer and a locked individual medication cabinet is also available in each room.

Communal rooms and dining areas are spacious, light and airy, enabling residents to entertain visitors in comfort and privacy. Mobility aids ensure that service users have full accessibility within the home and its grounds.

Residents are encouraged to bring small items of furniture and other personal possessions, their own television/audio equipment and install a private telephone should they wish. Pets are also welcome by arrangement.

Dovers is equipped with a full range of assisted baths and showers, including aids for mobility, moving and handling. Our staff team are fully trained in their use.

Respite care

Flexible respite care is offered to allow carers to take time for themselves knowing that the people they care for are with a professional team that puts the well-being of their loved ones first.
